The Everest Base Camp Packing List We Actually Use

Most EBC packing lists are copy-pasted from the same three sources and half the items on them are dead weight by Namche. Here's what our guides actually carry, and what they tell clients to leave at the hotel in Kathmandu.

The three things first-timers forget: a lightweight down jacket for evenings at the teahouse (the dining rooms are colder than you'd think), a personal water purification method so you're not buying bottled water at altitude, and a proper pair of camp shoes to give your feet a break after a full day in trekking boots.

Layering matters more than any single 'miracle' piece of gear. A moisture-wicking base layer, a mid-weight fleece, and a windproof shell will get you through nearly every day on the trail — you add and remove layers as the trail climbs and drops, not as the season changes.

We send every client a full checklist tailored to their departure month once they book, so you're not guessing based on a generic list written for a different season.
